Community Service Opportunities

Hospice (right across the Spur)

Hospice needs students to "adopt a desk". Volunteer desks are often left unattended during lunch, nights and weekends. This is a great organization to work for and they are within walking distance of the University. Contact is Judy Griffin and her number is 903-266-3400 Ext. 128.

PATH

Needs volunteers in many areas. One mentioned by Dr. Berman was their Rx program. If any of you are nursing majors this would be a great place to volunteer.

Bethesda Clinic and St. Paul's Clinic

These clinics always needs volunteers. Bethesda sees adults and St. Paul's sees children.

GoodWill

Get together as a group and organize to pickup items from faculty and deliver to Goodwill. Get a receipt and document your time.

Generations Together

A Senior Citizen/Child Care on the Loop and they need volunteers.

Garden Valley Sr. Citizen Center

Senior Citizens that attend the Garden Valley Sr. Citizen Center in North Tyler need Bus tokens ($1.50 each round trip) for seniors who don't have the money for the tokens. Organize a benefit or raffle to raise money.

Kid Reach - a part of PATH (formerly Big Brothers, Big Sisters)

Needs mentors - especially male role models.
